Envelopment Analysis (DEA)
A non-parametric method for measuring and comparing efficiency of similar operating units, based on Linear Programming technique
Thesis
- M.A.Sc. thesis: Efficiency and productivity measurement of the Canadian manufacturing sector: 1994-2002
Using DEA and Malmquist productivity Index, I measured the productivity changes of manufacturing industries in Canada and the U.S., with a focus on wood products manufacturing. I also measured the efficiency changes of the wood products manufacturing sub-sectors

Short
Biography
Before obtaining her Master's degree in the Faculty of Forestry, Saba was an industrial engineer. She started her undergraduate studies in September 1998 at Sharif University of Technology (Tehran, Iran) and graduated as an industrial engineer in June 2002. She worked as a database developer in a company in Tehran for one year prior to coming to UBC. Here at UBC, she started working in the area of performance assessment, under the supervision of Dr. Taraneh Sowlati. She graduated in February 2006 with a Master of Applied Science degree and started her PhD program right away. She switched departments from Wood Science to Forest Resource Management and is currently working with Dr. Thomas Maness. She likes studying in the area of mathematical modeling and Operations Research, especially linear programming models. Her other research interests are information systems and developing tools for supporting management decision making processes. Research
