Adults:

Moths are small (5 mm) pale golden with a few darker markings.

Larvae:

Argyresthia cupressella, the cypress tip moth, larvae. Long, thin and worm-like. Green bodied.


Damage:

Argyresthia cupressella cocoon Larvae mine the twiglets causing foliage to turn brown and drop.


Principal Hosts:

Pest of ornamentals in the Cupressus, Juniperus, Thuja and Sequoia genera.

Economic Importance:

Generally not serious in forest conditions.
