A jointly sponsored IUFRO, B.C. Ministry of Forests Research Branch and University
of British Columbia, Faculty of Forestry, conference on forest models
for sustainable management will be held in Vancouver, B.C., CANADA on
August 12 to 18, 2001.

The
conference will include sessions on recent model developments and
efforts at all levels—tree, stand, and landscape—that contribute to
the fields of ecosystem management, forest certification, and sustainable
management of forest resources. The conference will include a field
excursion to the B.C. coastal rainforests, and is limited to 100 active
participants, plus guests. Volunteer papers are encouraged.
Vancouver
is a seaport city, set by the Pacific Ocean, and bordered by mountainous

mountain areas adjacent. The city has been voted one of the top ten
cities in the world.
The
conference is being organized by Drs. Valerie LeMay and Hamish Kimmins
of the University of British Columbia (CANADA), and J.P. Skovsgaard
