Get Involved!

Do you have a passion or talent you’d love to share with other like-minded individuals? Consider showcasing that enthusiasm and skill by volunteering for UBC! Here are a few upcoming volunteer opportunities for UBC alumni:

Volunteer Day at UBC Farm – Saturday, September 24th

The UBC Farm is a 24 hectare learning and research facility located at the Vancouver campus. As the only working farmland within the city of Vancouver, the UBC Farm is an urban agrarian gem where students, faculty, staff and the local community have been working together to create a place where anyone can come to learn, live and value the connection between land, food and community. The ultimate goal of the farm is to retain existing farm and forest lands at UBC and create an internationally significant centre for sustainable agriculture, forestry and food systems.

Volunteer activities on September 24th are between 9:00 am – 1:00 pm and include vegetable harvesting for the weekly farm market and removal of invasive species such as blackberries and scotch broom. For more information on how you can get involved, please contact Anthony Brown at anthony.brown@ubc.ca or 604-827-3081.

Beaty Biodiversity Museum Educators

Beaty Museum

The Beaty Biodiversity Museum, a new public museum housing UBC’s rich biological collections, is dedicated to enhancing the public’s understanding and appreciation of biodiversity and making the research conducted by the scientists of UBC’s Biodiversity Research Centre more accessible to the public.

Volunteer Museum Educators play a vital role in the museum mission by bringing the collections to life through engaging and educational interactions with museum visitors. Twenty positions are currently available and full training will be provided. For more details on this opportunity, visit the volunteer opportunity page on the Alumni Affairs website.
