UBC Forestry at Wood is Good 2011 – February 25, 2011
Are you planning on attending the Wood is Good ABCFP Conference in Vancouver in the New Year? And do you enjoy a hearty breakfast of bacon and eggs?  Well then we have an event for you! The Faculty of Forestry will be hosting a breakfast the morning of February 25th for alumni registered at the ABCFP Conference.

Shortly after breakfast, Dean John Innes will give a presentation to all conference attendees and looks forward to hearing your questions and feedback.

Forestry Students

Student Enrollment
Last month we examined the undergraduate program in the Faculty of Forestry. This month, let’s take a closer look at the graduate program.

Our graduate students bring a range of experiences and backgrounds to the Faculty, as 50% call countries other than Canada, home. In fact, our graduate students hail from 40 different countries including [JM will list a few] making Forestry one of the most diverse Faculties on campus.

Enrolment over the last few years has fluctuated somewhat but generally the program has maintained steady numbers:

Year PhD Master’s Total Enrolled
2006/07 118 123 241
2007/08 141 124 265
2008/09 136 110 246
2009/10 143 113 256
2010/11 129 104 233

Interested in meeting some of our grad students (virtually that is)? Visit the graduate program website to watch short videos featuring some of our best and brightest.

Come out, come out, wherever you are!
It has come to our attention that some of our alumni may not be lost in the woods after all – they may actually be hiding!

Fear not, alumni – we promise never to send out chain e-mails, investment schemes, or dating service invitations. All emails are safe with us and correspondence sticks to news, updates and announcements on career, educational and professional development services available to our alumni.

Please help us reach out to those who have been reluctant to connect with us, post-graduation, by forwarding on our e-newsletter. If they’re happy with what they see, ask them to send an email to jenna.mccann@ubc.ca so we can take their names of our Lost in the Woods list.

For a complete list of the missing, visit http://www.forestry.ubc.ca/Alumni/LostintheWoods/tabid/674/Default.aspx
