The mortality model was fitted by species/zone combination for the Interior Cedar-Hemlock (ICH) and Interior Douglas-fir (IDF) biogeoclimatic zones of the Kamloops, Cariboo, and Nelson Forest Regions, using Permanent Sample Plot data

Several fitting approaches and mortality models were compared and analyzed.

A logistic function was selected, and the percent of correctly classified trees indicates that mortality for both conifer and hardwood species was predicted reasonably well. For those species/zone combinations that were poorly represented in the data, parameters were estimated using data pooling and substitution methods.
