Initial examination of the five year height growth of trees < 7.5 cm dbh showed that the small tree height increment model in the NI variant of FVS significantly overestimated growth in BC stands.

Calibration of the small tree component of the PrognosisBC model, using regression techniques, has been done concurrently with regeneration work.

Generally, recalibration of the NI variant of FVS has proven to provide good small tree height growth estimates. Applying similar model architecture to hardwood species has also proven successful.
