SCHIRP
is a partnership among universities, government and
industry. The primary disciplines involved are
silviculture, forest nutrition, forest ecology, soil
chemistry, soil ecology, and mycorrhizal genetics.
SCHIRP has been supported by a variety of funding agencies including FIA Forest Science Program, Forestry Innovation Investment, Forest Renewal BC, NSERC, South Moresby Replacement Fund, and Forest Resource Development Agreements I and II. SCHIRP has also received industrial support from Western Forest Products Inc., Weyerhaeuser, Fletcher Challenge Canada and MacMillan Bloedel Ltd.
Current partners include the University of British Columbia, Western Forest Products Inc., the BC Ministry of Forests and Range, and the Canadian Forest Service.
Program Coordination
The program is coordinated by Cindy Prescott in the Faculty of Forestry, University of British Columbia, and Annette Van Niejenhuis of Western Forest Products Inc.
