My current co-op term working for Pinnacle Renewable Energy has broadened my perspective of the forestry industry. In the short span of working at the Prince George office, I have been working on a variety of projects that improve the production of wood pellets at Pinnacle’s different operations.

I have been working with Suncor Energy Inc. for 6 months now. I started my term in January in Fort McMurray, however the Alberta wildfires in May have relocated me to Suncor’s offices in Calgary until the end of my term in December. Though I am in a different place, I am able to continue my work within Environmental Affairs, which provides support to various Oil Sands operation areas in order to meet environmental regulatory requirements.

Since January, I have been working as a researcher at Stellenbosch University in South Africa. During my term, I have learned about the South African forest industry from common practices of plantation forestry and site classification diagnostics to forestry supply chains.
